On 27th March 2024, the College of Computing and Information Sciences student leaders at Makerere University organized a Cocis Techtalk Day on the theme: “Navigating the Digital Frontier: Trends, Tools, and Transformations”.
Among other invited guests was the Executive Director Galaxy Innovation Initiative Mr. Kansiime Hamza who was also the college projects coordinator of Cocis in the 2020/2021 regime. During his remarks, he emphasized the need for students to collaborate together and use available infrastructures at the university such the University Innovation Hub, Makerere innovation and Incubation Centre among others.
He also highlighted the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). These technologies, once confined to the realm of science fiction, are now driving innovation across industries, from healthcare to finance. students gained valuable insights into the potential applications of AI and ML in their respective fields and the importance of staying abreast of these emerging trends.
Finally, CoCIS Tech Day proved to be a resounding success, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among students at Makerere University and ICT professionals. As we navigate the digital frontier together, we must embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, leveraging the latest trends, tools, and transformations to shape a brighter future for generations to come
